Sierra Leone midfielder Mohamed Bangura joins Ano Mouttagiaka on free transfer

Sierra Leonean midfielder Mohamed Bangura has joined Ano Mouttagiaka from AEZ Zakaki on a free transfer, completing his move to the Cyprus club on 9 September 2026.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a contract running until 31 May 2027. Bangura is right-footed and was born in Freetown, making the move another step in a career spent largely within Cypriot football.

Bangura arrives after one season with AEZ Zakaki, where he made 31 appearances in the 2. Division and played a further 10 matches in the 2. Division relegation competition. He also featured once in the Kypello Kyprou, completing 90 minutes in the competition.

His departure from AEZ Zakaki follows a free transfer move to the club from AEP Polemidia on 1 September 2025. Before that, Bangura joined AEP Polemidia from Oly. Lympion in July 2024, also without a transfer fee.

The midfielder began his recorded senior-club career in Cyprus with Anagen.Derynia, joining in September 2020. He later became a free agent before moving to Oly. Lympion in September 2022.

Bangura’s latest switch keeps him in Cyprus and adds a player with recent experience of second-tier and relegation-group football to Ano Mouttagiaka’s midfield options. His previous season included 1,779 minutes in the 2. Division and 734 minutes in the relegation competition.

The move was completed on 9 September, with Bangura leaving AEZ Zakaki after a year at the club. He is now contracted to Ano Mouttagiaka until the end of May 2027.
