Lars Olaf Mattsson, the coach of the Sierra Leone football team, has reportedly resigned. However, the Sierra Leone Football Federation (SLFA) claims to have not received any resignation letter from Mattsson and considers him still the coach of the Leone Stars. The SLFA spokesperson mentioned that they learned about the resignation from the Swedish press and emphasized that if Mattsson wishes to resign, he should communicate directly with the federation. According to the BBC, they have a copy of Mattsson’s resignation letter, in which he cites problems like lack of preparation with friendly matches and absence of a contract with the federation as reasons for his decision. Mattsson had been in charge of Sierra Leone since February 2011, leading the team to a significant improvement in FIFA rankings during his tenure.
