Siena land Ghanaian-Italian midfielder Moses Odjer after Livorno departure

Ghanaian-Italian defensive midfielder Moses Odjer has joined Siena from Livorno on a free transfer, adding a player with more than a decade of experience in Italian football to their squad. The 30-year-old has signed a contract with Siena running until 30 June 2028.

Odjer switches clubs after spending the 2025-26 season with Livorno, who play in Serie C. His move takes him to Siena, competing in Serie D – Group E, and represents his latest chapter in a career spent largely across Italy’s professional divisions.

Born in Tema, Ghana, Odjer holds Ghanaian and Italian nationality. He began his Italian football journey with Catania’s under-19 side after leaving Tema Youth in 2014, before progressing to the Catania senior team. He later spent time with Salernitana, Trapani, Palermo, Foggia, Pianese, Ascoli and Livorno.

The midfielder’s most substantial body of work has come in Serie B, where he has made 125 appearances and recorded one goal and six assists. He has also featured 99 times in Serie C – Group C and 58 times in Serie C – Group B, contributing three goals and one assist in the latter competition.

Odjer’s senior career has included a spell in the Premier League, where he made 13 appearances and scored once. His Italian cup record includes eight appearances and one goal, while he has also played in Serie C cup and play-off fixtures.

He spent the 2024-25 campaign moving between Pianese and Ascoli before joining Livorno in September 2025. Each of those moves was completed without a transfer fee, continuing a pattern of free transfers in the later stages of his career.

Odjer is listed as a defensive midfielder and is able to use both feet. Standing at 1.70m, he brings experience of Serie B and Serie C football to a Siena side beginning a new phase with their latest midfield addition.

The move also reunites Odjer with a club from the same Italian football system in which he has built his career since arriving from Ghana as a teenager. His previous contract at Livorno has ended, allowing him to make the switch to Siena without a fee.

Odjer’s move to Siena was completed on 27 August 2026, with his new contract secured until June 2028.
