Sidny Cabral is being linked with a move from Estrela Amadora to Benfica, with the Primeira Liga leaders reportedly monitoring the right-back after his rapid rise in Portugal.
The 23-year-old defender, who represents both Cape Verde and the Netherlands at nationality level, is currently valued at €2.00m, according to Transfermarkt, a figure that could prove attractive for Benfica as they weigh up defensive reinforcements. The probability of the transfer is not yet rated, with the move listed only as “?” at this stage, underlining that talks – if any – remain at an early, speculative phase.
Cabral joined Estrela Amadora from German side Viktoria Köln and has seen his market value spike sharply since arriving in Liga Portugal, rising from €600,000 to €2.00m in the final months of 2025. There is no public information on the length of his current deal or its expiry, leaving open the possibility that he could become a free agent in the near future, a factor that may influence any approach from Benfica.
Born in Rotterdam on 18 September 2002 and standing at 1.76m, Cabral is listed as a right-back and is comfortable with both feet, a versatility that would fit Benfica’s preference for attack-minded, adaptable full-backs. He currently wears the number 55 shirt for Estrela Amadora.
His career path has taken him through several European systems: youth spells at SC Feyenoord and FC Twente in the Netherlands, then moves to Helsingborgs’ youth sides in Sweden before a senior breakthrough in Germany with Rot-Weiß Erfurt and Viktoria Köln. That broad footballing education across the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and now Portugal is seen as part of the appeal for a club of Benfica’s stature.
If the rumoured switch does materialise, it could accelerate Cabral’s progression from promising Liga Portugal defender to established name on the European stage, and shape the next decisive chapter of his career.
