Sidnei Tavares leaves Blackburn for Wisla Plock in Ekstraklasa loan move

Cape Verdean-Portuguese midfielder Sidnei Tavares has joined Polish club Wisla Plock from Blackburn on loan, completing a move that takes him into the Ekstraklasa until 30 June 2027.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder moves after one season with Blackburn, who signed him from Moreirense in July 2025. Tavares made one appearance for the Championship club during the 2026-27 campaign, featuring in the EFL Cup.

His move to Wisla Plock was completed on 1 September, with the Polish side taking the right-footed midfielder for the remainder of the season. Tavares is 1.88m tall and can provide a central presence in midfield for a club competing in Poland’s top flight.

Tavares joined Blackburn after spending the previous campaign with Moreirense. He moved to the Portuguese club from Porto in July 2024, having returned to his parent side earlier that year after a loan spell with Colorado.

The midfielder began his senior career at Leicester City, progressing from the club’s youth system to Leicester Under-23s before joining Porto on a free transfer in August 2021. During his time with Leicester, he was part of the squad that won the English FA Cup in 2021.

His period at Porto included the loan move to Colorado in August 2023, before he returned to the Portuguese club in February 2024. Moreirense then secured his services permanently ahead of the 2024-25 season, followed by Blackburn’s €2m move for him a year later.

Tavares now links up with Wisla Plock under a temporary agreement running through to the end of June 2027, with Blackburn retaining his registration beyond the loan spell. He has joined the Polish club from Blackburn on a completed loan transfer.
