Shooting Stars defender Samuel Okon undergoes successful surgery in Nigeria

Shooting Stars defender Samuel Okon has undergone a successful surgery following an injury setback at the weekend in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The rock-solid defender picked up an Achilles tendon while in action for Shooting Stars in the Nigerian top-flight last Saturday.

However, the Nigerian outfit in a statement has confirmed the defender has begun rehabilitation and recovery process under the supervision of the club’s medical department following a successful surgery.

“We can confirm that defender Samuel Okon underwent successful surgery on his Achilles tendon injury on Saturday”

“The procedure went smoothly, and Samuel has now commenced his rehabilitation and recovery process under the supervision of the club’s medical team,” the club said in the statement.

Meanwhile, the club has extended their best wishes to Okon, expressing confidence in his full and speedy recovery.

“Everyone at Shooting Stars sends their best wishes to Samuel for a full and speedy recovery,” the statement added.

Okon’s absence will be felt by 3SC, who have relied heavily on his defensive presence in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign.

However, the club’s medical update brings optimism that the player will return stronger in the coming months.
