Nigeria football heavyweight Amaju Pinnick has shockingly lost his seat on the FIFA Executive Council following elections on Wednesday.

Pinnick, who is the former President of the Nigeria Football Association will not be returning to the FIFA Council after finishing out of the top five.

This come as a huge blow to Pinnick as he was highly favoured to retain his seat as a member of the council of the supreme governing-organ for world football.

At the 14th Extraordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football in Cairo, Egypt, the highly-revered football administrator pulled 28 votes, falling short in the race for the top FIFA position, with Morocco FA leader Fouzi Lekjaa securing a resounding victory to book a slot.

Fouzi Lekjaa pulled 49 votes to finish top of the election with Egyptian FA boss Hani Abou Rida and Niger FA leader Djibrilla Hima Hamidou pulling 35 votes each to finish second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, Mauritania FA president Ahmed Yahaya and Djiboutian football strategist Souleiman Waberi joins the FIFA Council after pulling 29 votes each during the election to finish fourth and fifth positions.

The elections saw the Francophone football leaders dominating on all front, with Anglophone football administrators missing out on top positions.
