Sheriff Sinyan linked with Universitatea Craiova after leaving CFR Cluj

Gambian-Norwegian defender Sheriff Sinyan, currently without a club, is the subject of a rumour linking him with Romanian SuperLiga side Universitatea Craiova.

The 30-year-old centre-back left CFR Cluj on 1 July 2026 after 18 months with the club. A move to Craiova would keep Sinyan in Romania’s top flight, where he has made 26 SuperLiga appearances and provided one assist.

Sinyan joined CFR from Norwegian club Odd in January 2025. During his time in Cluj, he helped the club win the Romanian Cup in the 2024-25 season.

The defender began his senior career with Lillestrøm before moving to Molde in 2020. He won the Norwegian Cup twice with Molde, in 2021 and 2023, before joining Czech side Slavia Prague in 2023.

Sinyan, who was born in Oslo and stands 1.88 metres tall, has also featured in European competitions, including the Europa League and Conference League qualifying rounds. His recorded market value is €1.4m.

There is no indication that an agreement has been reached, and the rumour remains unconfirmed. Sinyan’s current status is that of a free agent following his departure from CFR Cluj.
