Kamil Zayatte’s Injury Ends His Season with Sheffield Wednesday
Kamil Zayatte’s season with Sheffield Wednesday has unfortunately come to an early end following an injury sustained during last Saturday’s match against Bournemouth. The Guinean defender was struck in the face and had to be substituted at halftime. After undergoing medical evaluation, it was determined that he had suffered a fractured cheekbone.
Zayatte went on to have successful surgery to repair the injury, but the procedure will keep him out of action for at least six weeks.
This injury comes as a blow not only to Sheffield Wednesday but also to Guinea’s national team. Zayatte, who serves as the captain of the Syli National, was expected to feature in the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scheduled for June. His absence could pose a challenge for Guinea as they begin their campaign to qualify for the tournament, which will be held in Gabon.
Fans of both the club and the national team will be hoping for a speedy recovery for Zayatte, as he remains a key figure in both squads.
