Sevilla FC are continuing to monitor their former Moroccan striker, Youssef En Nesyri, with renewed interest emerging during the winter transfer window as the forward considers a return to the club where he enjoyed a successful spell between 2020 and 2024.

En-Nesyri left a strong mark during his time in Andalusia, winning two Europa League titles in 2020 and 2023, and sources indicate he is open to rejoining Sevilla after gaining valuable experience away from the club. His future, however, remains uncertain following a failed move to Juventus.

The Moroccan international had been close to joining the Italian giants on a loan deal, but talks were halted after he pushed for a permanent transfer.

The situation was later clarified by Juventus sporting director Giorgio Chiellini, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“En-Nesyri had doubts about the loan agreement, and after assessing the situation, we ended negotiations. We will not sign En-Nesyri to a permanent contract,” he said.

While En-Nesyri remains a player highly regarded at Sevilla, a potential return is dependent on several financial factors.

The club would need to create room within their wage structure to accommodate his salary, while also securing approval from the Spanish League Association, which closely monitors clubs’ financial balance.

Fenerbahce would also be expected to shoulder a significant portion of the loan costs if an agreement were to be reached. Even so, the likelihood of En Nesyri making a return is considered slim at this stage.

Despite the challenges, Sevilla have not entirely closed the door on the deal and have reportedly asked the player to remain patient until the transfer window closes, as they continue to explore other attacking options.

One alternative under consideration is Olympique Marseille forward Neal Maupay, who is seen as fitting the profile the Spanish side are seeking should the En-Nesyri move fail to materialise
