Severin Ze Essono: Cameroon defender rejoins Veria 1960 on free transfer

Cameroon centre-back Severin Ze Essono has rejoined Greek side Veria 1960 from Nestos on a free transfer. The 23-year-old has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 as he returns to a club where he has already enjoyed a productive spell in Super League 2.

Ze Essono, born in Yaounde and standing at 1.77m, comes back to Veria 1960 after two seasons with Nestos, who also compete in Greece’s second tier. The right-footed defender previously left Veria 1960 for Nestos in August 2024, also on a free transfer, and now makes the reverse move with a contract that secures his future for the next campaign.

During his last stint with Veria 1960, Ze Essono featured in Super League 2, making 13 appearances and logging 973 minutes on the pitch. That run gave him his first sustained experience in Greek professional football and established him as a regular option at centre-back at this level.

Ze Essono’s career has been built largely in Greece. After moving from AS International to Zakynthos in January 2022, he later joined Veria as a free agent in January 2023 following a short period without a club. His market value now stands at around €50,000, underlining his status as a solid squad addition for a Super League 2 side.

The move marks a permanent return to Veria 1960 for Ze Essono, who will be tied to the club until the end of the 2026-27 season after completing his free transfer from Nestos.
