Seven Egyptian referees selected for Elite Referees program in Cairo

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the roster for its upcoming “Elite Referees” camp, highlighting a strong Egyptian presence with seven officials named.

Among the field referees, Amin Omar, Mohamed Maarouf, and Mahmoud Nagi earned spots, while Mahmoud Abu El-Regal and Ahmed Hossam Taha were selected as assistant referees.

The VAR team will feature Mahmoud Ashour and Hossam Azab Haggag.

Cairo will host the intensive training camp from March 4 to March 8, 2026, where referees will undergo rigorous physical and technical preparation.

The program is designed to equip officials for the decisive knockout rounds of Africa’s premier club competitions, including the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals of both the African Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The prominent inclusion of Egyptian referees underscores CAF’s confidence in their expertise and ability to manage high-stakes matches across the continent.
