Sesinyi cleared to make Marumo Gallants debut as bottom club seek first win
Marumo Gallants have been handed a boost ahead of their return to Betway Premiership action, with Botswana international forward Thabang Sesinyi now eligible to make his first appearance for the club.
The 27-year-old received his work permit after a delay that has kept him out since joining Marumo Gallants from Jwaneng Galaxy about two months ago. He could be included when Bahlabane Ba Ntwa take on Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 17 October.
The match will be Marumo Gallants’ first since the FIFA international break, and Sesinyi’s availability offers head coach Ronnie Kanalelo another attacking option as he attempts to improve the club’s poor start to the season.
Gallants under pressure
Marumo Gallants are bottom of the Betway Premiership standings after failing to win any of their opening seven matches. Their record consists of two draws and five defeats, leaving them in urgent need of a change in results.
Sesinyi’s absence had been caused by delays in completing the administrative requirements for his move from Jwaneng Galaxy. The prolonged wait prevented him from featuring despite having joined the squad around two months ago.
His clearance comes at a crucial point for a club seeking to move away from the relegation zone. A first win against Sekhukhune United would provide Marumo Gallants with an opportunity to begin recovering from their difficult opening run.
Marumo Gallants did not respond to questions about Sesinyi’s latest status. However, the forward’s eligibility is expected to be welcomed by Kanalelo as he prepares his side for Saturday’s fixture.
