Serigne Faye: Senegal striker leaves FC Rouen to become free agent after contract ends

Senegal forward Serigne Faye has left French club FC Rouen 1899 and is now a free agent after his contract with the Ligue 3 side came to an end.

The 22-year-old centre-forward departs Rouen with an estimated market value of around €200,000, having joined the club in January 2025 from Spanish side Recreativo Granada. His exit means he is now without a club going into the new season and able to negotiate a move as a free transfer.

Faye, born in Dakar and standing at 1.85m, operates primarily through the middle in attack and is right-footed. During his time in France and Spain he has built up experience across the lower professional tiers, featuring in Ligue 3 and the French cup as well as Spain’s Segunda and Primera Federacion and Copa del Rey.

Across those competitions he has accumulated more than 60 senior appearances, scoring in both France and Spain, including four goals in National 2 Group A and three in Segunda Federacion Group IV. He also made brief outings in Ligue 1 and the French cup earlier in his career, adding top-flight and knockout experience to his resume.

Faye first moved into the European game with Montpellier’s B team in November 2022 before switching to Recreativo Granada in February 2024 and then crossing back to France with Rouen a year later.

The Senegalese striker’s latest move sees him officially depart FC Rouen 1899 on a free, leaving him unattached following the conclusion of his spell in Ligue 3.
