In a bold summer move, Serhou Guirassy left VfB Stuttgart to join Borussia Dortmund for €18 million, snubbing interest from English clubs.
The 28-year-old Guinean forward, who has shone in the Bundesliga over the past two seasons, described his decision as a natural step in his career progression.
“BVB is a fantastic club, an exciting project. I love Germany and the Bundesliga,” Guirassy shared in an interview with Sport Bild. Central to his decision was Borussia Dortmund’s head coach, whom he regards as a transformative figure in his journey. “The coach played a big role in me choosing BVB. He’s passionate, full of ideas, and was a great footballer himself,” he said, adding that he admired him as a youngster.
Guirassy credited his Stuttgart coach, Sebastian Hoeneß, for shaping his game but admitted the allure of Dortmund’s grander ambitions sealed the deal. “I came to BVB to win titles. That’s my clear goal,” Guirassy declared.
So far, his impact has been electric: 10 goals and 4 assists in 16 games, underscoring his determination to make Dortmund the pinnacle of his career.
