Borussia Dortmund are becoming increasingly confident that Guinea international Serhou Guirassy will remain at the club after the expiry of his release clause passed without any major European side making an approach.

The striker’s €40 million buyout option expired at midnight on Tuesday, removing the possibility of interested clubs signing him for a fixed fee and strengthening Dortmund’s position in negotiations over his future.

European giants miss chance to trigger clause

According to Sky Sport, several leading clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, had the opportunity to activate Guirassy’s release clause before the deadline.

However, none of the interested teams moved forward with the option, meaning any future transfer would now require direct negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.

The German club can now demand a fee based on their own valuation rather than the previously agreed release figure.

Turkey move unlikely for Guinea forward

A possible transfer to Turkish club Fenerbahce also appears unlikely at this stage.

Reports indicate Dortmund have not received an official offer from the Istanbul side, while Guirassy himself is said to have ruled out a move to Turkey.

Dortmund preparing for another season with Guirassy

With the transfer window situation becoming clearer, Dortmund are increasingly planning around Guirassy remaining as their main attacking option next season.

Sky reporter Patrick Berger said the club currently expects to continue relying on the Guinea forward’s goalscoring ability.

Since arriving from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024, Guirassy has produced impressive numbers, scoring 60 goals in 96 competitive appearances while also providing 15 assists.

His continued presence would provide Dortmund with one of Europe’s most productive forwards as they prepare for the new campaign.
