Sergio Ramos says Kylian Mbappe deserves five Ballon d’Ors even without trophies
Sergio Ramos has stirred the Ballon d’Or debate by throwing his full support behind Kylian Mbappe.
Speaking ahead of Monterrey’s upcoming clash with Inter Milan, the legendary Spanish defender made it clear where his vote would go.
“For me, clearly. The top scorer, the Golden Boot, but Madrid did not win other titles that other teams did. These are individual awards, but there are players who have won leagues, cups. If it were up to me, Mbappe would have four or five Ballon d’Or trophies at home despite not winning with Madrid,” Ramos said.
The former Real Madrid captain, known for his strong opinions and winning mentality, brushed aside the argument that trophies are everything when it comes to the Ballon d’Or. Instead, he emphasized Mbappe’s consistency, skill, and impact on the game.
Ramos’s backing of the winger is likely to add fuel to the already heated discussions around this year’s award. With no major club trophies under Mbappe’s belt this season, some fans and pundits remain divided, though Ramos isn’t one of them.
