Serge Aurier, one of the standout performers for Toulouse during the 2013-2014 Ligue 1 season, further boosted his profile with solid showings for Ivory Coast at the 2014 World Cup—even though his national team did not make it past the group stage. His talent hasn’t gone unnoticed, as several top European clubs have been tracking him, including Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking to Footmercato.net, Aurier acknowledged PSG’s interest, stating:
“I’ve actually heard about PSG’s interest. It’s a very good club, one of the best in Europe today. It’s a club that’s part of the European Top 8, and it’s interesting to know that clubs with the means to buy anyone are interested in me. In addition, I’m Parisian, so that obviously comes into play.”
However, Aurier was quick to refute rumors linking him to Arsenal.
“It was said that I had reached an agreement with Arsenal, that I had already signed… That’s not true. All I can say is that England is the league I like the most. Things are clear, I have always given my preference to England, because it’s the league that suits me best. However, I haven’t given an agreement to anyone, so I am free to discuss with the clubs that come along.”
Still under contract with Toulouse FC until June 2018, Aurier remains a hot property in the summer transfer window. While England remains his preferred destination, his openness to other offers—including from PSG—means his future is still very much up for grabs.
