Born on October 15, 1987, in France, Serge Akakpo is of Togolese origin and has had an interesting football career. He began his football journey at AJ Auxerre, where he played for the reserve teams (-17 and -19) before opting to play for Togo.

  • FC Vaslui (2009-2010): In December 2008, he was transferred to FC Vaslui in Romania, where he gained more playing time and started his first European matches.
  • NK Celje (2010-2011): After leaving Vaslui, he joined Slovenian club Celje, playing 17 matches and scoring 2 goals in his last season with the team.
  • MŠK Žilina (2011-): In January 2012, he joined MŠK Žilina in Slovakia, where he won titles, including the Slovak football cup and the championship.

International Career:

  • Serge Akakpo played for the French national teams (-17 and -19) and was part of the team that won the European Championship in 2004.
  • In 2008, he decided to play for Benin. However, he eventually chose to represent Togo in 2008 and has been a part of the Togolese national team since then.

  • During the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Cabinda, Angola, the Togolese national team bus was attacked. Serge Akakpo was on the bus and suffered two gunshot wounds to the back but survived the attack.
