Senzo Meyiwa: Attackers Still on the Run, Police Vow to Continue the Pursuit

Senzo Meyiwa Murder: Killers Still at Large, Police Intensify Investigation

Who killed Senzo Meyiwa, the former captain and goalkeeper of both the South African national team and Orlando Pirates? As of Tuesday morning—two days after his shocking death—South African police are still searching for answers.

The 27-year-old was fatally shot during a home invasion on Sunday evening in Vosloorus, a township southeast of Johannesburg. According to authorities, the suspects remain at large, and no arrests have been made yet.

No arrests have been made, nothing, the investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.

In a bid to accelerate the investigation, the police are working on two composite sketches of the suspects, which are expected to be released later in the day. Meanwhile, investigators have begun gathering eyewitness accounts to piece together the events of that fatal night.

Meyiwa’s death has sent shockwaves throughout South Africa, where he was widely respected not only as a footballer but also as a national figure. The country mourns a rising star whose life was cut tragically short in an act of senseless violence.
