Mamadou Sakho has been fined €5,000 for singing an anti-Marseille song during PSG’s title celebration. In comparison, Taye Taiwo, a Marseille player, had received a suspension for a similar offense in the past.
Laurent Davenas, President of the Council, explained the decision, stating, “In relation to the Taïwo case law, we took into account Sakho’s public and immediate apologies.” However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who made critical remarks about French referees, did not receive any fine. Davenas explained, “As far as Ibrahimovic is concerned, it was necessary to take into account both freedom of opinion and criticism, which is a constitutional principle, but also the protection of referees. He made excessive comments, and so we decided on a call to order, which is the first of the sanctions.”
