CS Sfaxien Secure Four New Signings, Including AS Vita Club Duo
Tunisia — Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien have bolstered their squad with four new signings, including two key players from AS Vita Club, as they look to rebuild following the departure of several stars to European clubs.
After losing Ferjani Sassi and Fakhreddine Ben Youssef to Ligue 1 side FC Metz, and Gabonese international Didier Ndong to FC Lorient, the club has turned its attention to the African market. On Wednesday, CS Sfaxien confirmed the signings of Ugandan forward Yunus Sentamu and Congolese midfielder Lema Mabidi, both of whom played for AS Vita Club during their 2014 CAF Champions League run.
According to Tunisian football agent Khalil, who represents both players, the pair signed two-and-a-half-year deals with the Tunisian outfit. “They are two highly sought-after players. We chose CS Sfaxien because it’s a good environment for their development. But make no mistake — Europe is calling, and they may move on in the near future,” Khalil told reporters.
Both Sentamu and Mabidi played instrumental roles in AS Vita Club’s journey to the 2014 CAF Champions League final, showcasing their potential on the continental stage.
In addition to the Congolese duo, CS Sfaxien have also secured the signatures of two Gambian prospects: Raymond Mendy and Mustapha Kujabi. The pair, both relatively unknown but highly rated by club scouts, signed four-and-a-half-year contracts as the club looks to build a strong core for the future.
With these additions, CS Sfaxien aim to maintain their status as one of Tunisia’s most competitive sides and return to the summit of African club football.
