Senegalese striker Alioune Ndoye joins Vitória Guimarães on four-year deal
Alioune Ndoye has completed a permanent move to Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães, signing a four-year contract following his departure from Latvian outfit Valmiera FC.
The 23-year-old Senegalese forward arrives in Portugal after an impressive spell in Latvia, where he scored 44 goals in 101 appearances for Valmiera.
His transfer comes in the wake of Valmiera’s administrative relegation to the lower division, prompting Ndoye to seek a new challenge at a more competitive level.
Ndoye spent the second half of last season on loan at Swiss side Servette FC Genève, where he netted six goals in 15 appearances.
That stint bolstered his reputation, and his recent performances were enough to convince Vitória Guimarães to secure his services as part of their continued push for success in the Portuguese top flight.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Ndoye shared his excitement about the move. “I chose Vitória SC because it’s a great club,” said the Rufisque-born striker.
“I watched some matches and was really impressed. I enjoyed the intensity and passion, and now I want to earn my place and prove why the club signed me.”
He continued, “It’s going to be the biggest challenge of my career so far. I’ve already noticed how incredible the fans are here.
Their energy and support are something else—they really push the team forward. I love that kind of atmosphere.”
Ndoye joins a Guimarães side that has consistently finished in the upper half of the Primeira Liga over the past three seasons, never falling below sixth place.
The club’s ambition to remain a strong presence in Portuguese football was a major draw for the striker, who also revealed lofty personal targets.
“My goal is to play in European competitions,” Ndoye stated. “That’s a dream of mine. I even dream of winning the Champions League one day.
Why not? I believe I can score a lot of goals in Portugal. I’ve come here with that mindset and ambition.”
A product of Senegal’s Teungueth FC, Ndoye has steadily risen through the ranks with consistent goal-scoring form and physical presence up front.
With his move to Vitória Guimarães now official, he will be aiming to make a quick impact and help his new club maintain their strong domestic performances while pushing for European qualification.
As Vitória Guimarães continues to build a competitive squad, the arrival of Ndoye adds firepower and international experience to their attacking options.
The coming months will reveal whether the Senegalese forward can deliver on his promise and write a successful new chapter in Portuguese football.
