Senegalese goalkeeper Mory Diaw joins Le Havre on three-year deal

Senegalese goalkeeper Mory Diaw joins Le Havre on three-year deal

Mory Diaw has signed a three-year contract with Le Havre, becoming the French club’s new first-choice goalkeeper following his departure from Clermont.

The 32-year-old Senegal international arrives on a free transfer after mutually terminating his deal with Clermont earlier this summer.

His arrival at Le Havre comes as the club undergoes significant changes in its goalkeeping department, with long-serving duo Arthur Desmas and Mathieu Gorgelin set to leave.

Le Havre, France’s oldest professional club, has identified Diaw as the experienced figure to lead a new era between the posts.

His move had been anticipated for several days, and the official confirmation now signals the start of a new chapter both for the player and the club.

Having established himself in Ligue 1 with Clermont, Diaw brings a wealth of experience to the Le Havre squad. Known for his commanding presence, shot-stopping ability, and vocal leadership, he is expected to take on the role of undisputed number one from the outset of the upcoming campaign.

This signing forms part of a broader restructuring project at Le Havre, with the club reinforcing its squad ahead of the new season.

The acquisition of Diaw follows the confirmed arrivals of Félix Mambimbi and Godson Kyeremeh, whose transfers were approved after the green light from the DNCG, France’s financial regulatory body for professional football.

The recruitment drive reflects Le Havre’s ambitions to stabilise their squad and improve performances in the top flight. With Desmas and Gorgelin nearing the end of their time at the club, securing a reliable and proven replacement in goal was a clear priority. In Diaw, they have added a player with international pedigree and valuable Ligue 1 experience.

Diaw’s previous campaign with Clermont saw him feature as a key figure in their survival push, delivering consistent performances and earning recognition for his displays under pressure.

His leadership qualities will be equally vital at Le Havre, particularly as the club transitions to a new era in several positions on the pitch.

For the Senegalese international, this move offers the chance to take on a fresh challenge in a team ready to evolve. As he prepares to anchor the defence in Normandy, Diaw will be determined to bring stability and confidence to the back line.

His arrival marks a strategic step in Le Havre’s off-season plans, with the club seeking to build a competitive and balanced squad.

Diaw’s signing underlines their commitment to blending experience with fresh energy as they look to make strides in the upcoming Ligue 1 season.

With pre-season preparations underway, Mory Diaw is expected to integrate swiftly into his new team as Le Havre set their sights on a strong campaign built around a reliable last line of defence.
