Senegalese forward Assane Diao nets consolation for Como in narrow defeat to Juventus

Senegalese forward Assane Diao was on target for Como on Friday night, but his effort was not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat to Juventus in the Italian Serie A.

The young attacker, who started for Como, found the back of the net just before halftime, levelling the score after Juventus had taken an early lead.

Juventus broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Randal Kolo Muani showcased brilliant individual skill, weaving his way into the box before rifling a shot into the roof of the net.

Diao responded in the 45th minute, connecting perfectly with a lofted cross from Patrick Cutrone. The forward’s precise header struck the crossbar before bouncing in to restore parity.

However, Juventus had the final say in the 89th minute when Kolo Muani completed his brace from the penalty spot, sending Jean Butez the wrong way to secure victory for the visitors.

Despite the defeat, Assane Diao’s performance was a bright spot for Como, as the teenager continues to impress in the Serie A.
