Senegalese defender Moussa Ndiaye rejoins Anderlecht training following family tragedy

Senegalese defender Moussa Ndiaye rejoins Anderlecht training following family tragedy

Moussa Ndiaye has resumed training with Anderlecht just days after the death of his younger brother, Alpha, who drowned in Dakar.

The Senegalese left-back returned to Belgium on Monday morning, having travelled to his hometown to be with his family in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Upon his arrival in Brussels, he reported directly to Anderlecht’s Neerpede training facility, where he completed an individual training session under the supervision of club staff.

Ndiaye’s swift return comes at a crucial stage of the season for Anderlecht, who are preparing for the decisive second leg of their European tie against Greek opposition this Thursday.

The 22-year-old is expected to be named in the travelling squad and make the trip to Greece alongside his teammates.

The defender’s presence will be a welcome boost for the Mauves as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the high-stakes fixture.

Despite the emotional toll of his brother’s passing, Ndiaye’s commitment to return promptly to training highlights both his professionalism and his importance to the team’s plans.

Anderlecht’s management and coaching staff have offered support to Ndiaye during this difficult time, ensuring he could spend time with his family before resuming football duties.

His decision to rejoin the squad just days later underlines his determination to contribute on the pitch while honouring his late brother’s memory.

The Senegalese international, who has been a consistent performer for the Belgian side, will be keen to channel his emotions into his performances as Anderlecht prepare for the pivotal clash.

The team is eager to secure progression in the competition, and Ndiaye’s return is seen as a timely reinforcement.

Fans and teammates alike have expressed solidarity with the defender, acknowledging the strength required to return so swiftly to action after such a personal loss.

His resilience is expected to serve as inspiration within the squad as they focus on achieving a positive result in Greece.

As Thursday’s match approaches, Ndiaye will continue working closely with the coaching staff to ensure he is fully prepared both physically and mentally for the challenge ahead.

His return adds depth and stability to the squad, with his defensive expertise expected to play a crucial role in the encounter.

Anderlecht will now look to rally behind Ndiaye, both as a teammate and as a person coping with bereavement, as they aim to turn their European aspirations into reality.
