The Senegal women’s national football team, known as the Lionesses, has been in training since December 19, 2013, in preparation for the 2014 African Women’s Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled to take place in Namibia. The team, under coach Bossouaré Diaby, has been working towards securing qualification for the CAN tournament. Coach Diaby mentioned that preparations are progressing normally, and the final squad of 23 players for the qualifiers will be determined soon. The Lionesses are set to play friendly matches against Algeria on January 14 and 17 in Dakar as part of their preparation. The coach emphasized the importance of taking every opponent seriously, noting that women’s football teams in Africa are evolving rapidly.
