Portuguese outfit Sporting CP have successfully secured the signing of Senegalese international Souleymane Faye in the current winter transfer window, marking a significant step in his football career.
The 22-year-old attacker penned four-year contract with Sporting CP for a transfer fee worth €6.5 million. Faye, who has been handed the jersey number 15 will defend Sporting CP’s colours until 2030 with a release clause estimated at €80 million.
Trained at the Galaxy Football Academy in Dakar, the highly-rated attacker departed for greener pastures in 2022, signing for Granada CF.
Following a standout display in Spain, Faye has secured a significant move to the Portuguese top-tier league. Before switching to Portugal, Faye made 19 appearances in the Spanish second-tier league, scoring 2 goals and providing six assists across the period.
However, the winger has expressed his joy after securing a move to Sporting CP, while promising to give his all to help the club achieve its goals.
‘I really want to wear this shirt and also play in the Champions League. It’s a childhood dream for all players. I want to help the team achieve its goals and, for my part, grow a lot and win titles,’ he said.
The 22-year-old winger has made one appearances for the Senegal national team, since making his debut in September 2023.
