Nicolas Jackson’s potential switch to Bayern Munich has taken another turn, with fresh discussions reportedly underway just hours after the deal seemed off the table.
Late on Sunday, reports claimed Chelsea had withdrawn from loan talks after Liam Delap sustained an injury in their 2-0 victory over Fulham at Stamford Bridge, ruling the forward out for up to two months.
That development appeared to leave Chelsea unwilling to sanction Jackson’s exit, given their limited attacking depth.
However, the 24-year-old Senegalese striker has remained determined to leave, and reliable transfer sources Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano both report that negotiations have been revived behind the scenes.
Plettenberg revealed: “BREAKING | Last night the loan deal for Nicolas #Jackson and FC Bayern was officially off. It’s unbelievable, but: we’ve learned that top-secret negotiations and talks are ongoing again. #CFC. Jackson deal to Bayern is back on!”
Bayern Munich, who had always preferred a temporary deal, are said to be open to finalising the arrangement before the window closes.
Jackson’s representatives are also pushing strongly to ensure he makes the switch to Germany, seeing it as an opportunity for consistent game time and exposure in the Bundesliga.
Chelsea’s dilemma remains unresolved. While they have attacking options in Tyrique George, Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer and young Brazilian prodigy Estevão Willian, none are natural centre-forwards.
Losing Jackson at this stage could leave head coach Enzo Maresca with a significant gap in his frontline.
