Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly has been left out of Al-Hilal’s matchday squad for their AFC Champions League clash against Shabab Al-Ahli in Dubai.
The Senegalese centre-back will play no role in the highly competitive clash, with head coach Simone Inzaghi opting to rest the 34-year-old defender ahead of the fixture.
Koulibaly recently returned to action for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League after taking time off to mourn the passing of his father, shortly after Senegal’s triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Since his return, he has featured in several league matches, including starts. However, despite regaining match fitness, the Italian tactician has decided to give the experienced defender a breather for Monday’s showdown.
The rock-solid defender has made 17 appearances for Al Hilal this season, scoring one goal and delivering two assists in the process.
Koulibaly has been in the books of the Saudi Pro League giants since 2023 and has established himself as a key member of the team.
At the international level, has racked up 102 appearances since making his debut in 2015 and scored two goals.
He was outstanding in Senegalese’s two African Cup of Nations success in 2021 and 2025, signaling his impact with the national team.
