Senegal star Bouna Sarr extends stay at FC Metz
Senegal international Bouna Sarr has committed his future to FC Metz after signing a new two-year contract extension with the French outfit.
The experienced defender will continue his journey with his boyhood club after putting pen to paper on the new deal, which was officially confirmed on Monday.
Sarr’s renewal comes as a major boost for Metz as they continue preparations for the upcoming campaign, with the versatile full-back expected to play an important leadership role within the squad. Having returned to his formative club, the former Bayern Munich defender has quickly become one of the key figures both on and off the pitch thanks to his experience at the highest level of European football.
Speaking after signing the extension, the 33-year-old expressed his delight at prolonging his stay with the club closest to his heart.
“I am very proud to extend my adventure with my boyhood club. It is an honor for me to continue wearing this jersey, and I intend to give my all on the pitch to achieve our goals,” Sarr said.
Sarr began his professional career at Metz before going on to establish himself in French football with Marseille, where his impressive performances earned him a move to German giants Bayern Munich. During his spell in Germany, he won several major trophies, including the Bundesliga title.
On the international stage, Sarr has also enjoyed success with Senegal national football team, playing a key role for the Teranga Lions and contributing to the country’s rise as one of Africa’s strongest football nations.
His decision to remain at Metz highlights both his loyalty to the club and the confidence he has in the team’s ambitions moving forward. Supporters will now hope the experienced defender can help guide the side to a successful campaign over the next two seasons.
