Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has celebrated the country’s AFCON 2025 triumph with a generous reward package for the Teranga Lions and their backroom team.
Each player in the championship-winning squad will receive about $135,000 in cash, alongside a 1,500 m² plot of land on the picturesque Petite Côte, a coastal strip increasingly associated with luxury development and national prestige.
The president’s gesture extends beyond the starting eleven and bench to recognise the full support structure behind Senegal’s second continental crown.
Members of the technical and coaching staff are set to receive $90,000 each, plus an individual 1,000 m² plot, reflecting the growing appreciation for analysts, medics and trainers whose work often remains out of the spotlight.
The rest of the official delegation, including logistics officials and other support workers, will also be rewarded with $35,000 each and a 500 m² plot, ensuring that every contributor shares tangibly in the historic success.
For many Senegalese, the announcement feels like more than a bonus; it is seen as a symbolic investment in the futures of the champions and their families. The mix of immediate financial support and long-term land ownership underlines how seriously the country takes football as a driver of unity, pride and social mobility.
Coming just days after the Teranga Lions conquered Africa once again, the rewards cement the players’ status as national icons and mark a new high point in Senegal’s modern football story.
