Senegal’s national team was greeted with a hero’s welcome upon their return home after lifting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.
The Teranga Lions secured the trophy with a 1-0 victory over hosts Morocco on Sunday, courtesy of a decisive goal from Pape Gueye.
On Monday night, the squad and coaching staff arrived at Blaise Diagne International Airport, where they were met with scenes of national celebration and pride.
The reception was a historic one, attended by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the Prime Minister, and members of the government, underscoring the significance of the achievement for the nation.
The event featured a formal ceremony and official honours befitting the team’s success. As part of the celebrations, captain Kalidou Koulibaly presented the AFCON trophy to President Faye during the high-profile reception.
