Senegal given 10 days to appeal CAF decision at CAS after being strip of AFCON 2025 title
The Senegalese Football Federation has voiced its discontent following a controversial ruling by the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board, which declared that Senegal forfeited the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco.
The decision handed Morocco a 3–0 victory and formally crowned them African champions — an outcome that has clearly not gone down well in Dakar.
In the immediate aftermath, the federation took to social media, posting a video on its official Facebook page showing players parading the trophy with jubilant supporters aboard an open-top bus.
The footage appeared to underline Senegal’s emotional claim to the title, despite the governing body’s ruling.
However, the matter is not entirely settled.
Senegal now has a 10-day window from the date of the decision to escalate the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport — the highest authority in global sports disputes. Any verdict delivered by CAS would be final and binding.
Until then, CAF’s decision remains in force, with Morocco officially recognised as the winners of AFCON 2025 under existing regulations.
Attention now turns to Senegal’s next move, as the federation weighs whether to pursue a final legal challenge or come to terms with a deeply contentious outcome.
