Senegalese attacker Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly has completed a move to Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps, marking a significant step in his football career.
The 26-year-old forward joins the Canadian outfit on a long-term deal from French Ligue 1 outfit FC Metz.
Sabaly has committed his future to Vancouver Whitecaps with a contract running through the 2028–29 MLS season, while the agreement also includes an option to extend his stay until the 2029–30 campaign.
Vancouver added that the striker’s registration with the club will be finalized once the necessary formalities are completed, including the issuance of his international transfer certificate, visa, work permit and the successful completion of a medical examination.
Sabaly arrives in MLS with a wealth of experience from his time in France. During his spell with FC Metz, he featured in 122 competitive matches, contributing 22 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. Beyond the numbers, he played a significant role in the club’s recent history, being part of three promotion campaigns that saw Metz return to Ligue 1 in 2019, 2023 and 2025.
The move to Vancouver represents a bold new step for Sabaly, who will now look to make an impact in Major League Soccer and bring his experience, athleticism and winning mentality to the Whitecaps as they continue to build for the future.
