In preparation for the upcoming international friendly match between Senegal and Mali scheduled for the FIFA date of March 5 in Paris, the French coach of the Lions, Alain Giresse, announced on Wednesday that the list of 23 Lions selected for this encounter will be revealed on February 25, 2014.
“I am currently working on filling the different positions, and I am closely monitoring the players’ performances,” stated Giresse, emphasizing his meticulous approach to squad selection.
Giresse explained that the selection process will consider the players’ recent performances and developments, particularly noting that he hasn’t observed many new Senegalese players during his recent tour of Europe. However, he acknowledged the possibility of a few additions to the squad, aiming for balance across positions and considering the complementarity of the players.
He also highlighted the significance of reference matches and the team’s last performance against Ivory Coast, which will factor into the final selection decisions.
