**El Hadj Diouf Dreams of Coaching Senegal National Team**
Former Senegalese midfielder El Hadj Diouf has revealed his ambitions to one day manage the Lions of Teranga, as he continues his playing career with Malaysian club Sabah FC.
In an interview with *SenePeople*, Diouf expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of football greats like Diego Maradona, who transitioned from player to national team coach. “When I see people like Maradona at the head of their national team, it makes me happy, it gives me ideas and courage to follow their path,” he said.
Diouf, who is critical of the current leadership in Senegalese football, confirmed he is preparing for a future coaching career by taking coaching exams. “People may not know, but I’m taking exams to become a coach later,” added the former Liverpool player.
Despite focusing on coaching ambitions, Diouf has not ruled out a playing return to the Senegal national team. “If Senegal calls on me as a player, I’ll come because I know I’m still good, even very good. I show it every week here. I’m the top passer with 14 assists and the second top scorer with 9 goals,” he stated last August.
Diouf’s candid reflections underscore his ongoing passion for Senegalese football, both on and off the pitch.
