Génération Foot stars Mactar Sylla and Ibrahima Diallo begin European adventure in Norway
Two promising Senegalese talents from Génération Foot, midfielder Mactar Sylla and right-back Ibrahima Diallo, have taken a step into European football by signing for Norwegian second division side Egersunds IK.
The move comes after a highly successful domestic season, during which both players helped Génération Foot secure the Senegalese league title.
Their performances at home, combined with prior experience on the international stage, have prepared them for the challenges of European football.
Diallo, in particular, brings significant experience from continental competitions. He was part of the Senegal team that won the African U17 Championship in 2023 and later competed at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt in May 2025.
The Young Lions exited the tournament at the quarter-final stage after a 3-1 penalty defeat to Nigeria.
The transfer marks a continuation of Senegal’s growing presence in European leagues, highlighting the country’s capacity to produce young talent capable of competing abroad.
Sylla and Diallo’s signing represents both a personal milestone for the players and a wider recognition of Génération Foot’s reputation for nurturing future stars.
Egersunds IK will provide the two players with a platform to further develop their skills in a professional European environment.
For Sylla and Diallo, the challenge now lies in adapting to a new league and culture while continuing the upward trajectory of their careers.
Their journey underlines the increasingly international pathways for Senegalese footballers, moving from domestic success to competitive opportunities in Europe, and sets a precedent for future generations of players seeking similar transitions.
