Senegal defender Lamine Sy extends Auxerre contract until 2030

Senegalese-born defender Lamine Sy has committed his long-term future to AJ Auxerre after impressing since joining the French club last summer.

The 24-year-old right-back arrived at Auxerre from Ligue 2 and quickly adapted to life in the top flight, establishing himself as an important member of the team.

His performances have earned him the confidence of the Auxerre management, who have now rewarded his progress with a new long-term contract.

AJ Auxerre officially announced that Sy has extended his stay at the club and is now tied to the Ligue 1 side until June 2030.

“AJ Auxerre is delighted to announce the contract extension of Lamine Sy, who is now tied to the club until June 2030,” the club announced.

The new deal reflects the defender’s impressive development since making the step up to Ligue 1. Despite arriving from the second tier, Sy quickly adapted to the demands of top-flight football and became a regular option for Auxerre.

During his first Ligue 1 campaign last season, Sy made 25 appearances, gaining valuable experience while playing against some of the strongest teams in French football.

His contribution has continued into the new campaign, with the right-back recently opening his Ligue 1 goalscoring account.

Sy scored his first goal in the French top flight last weekend when Auxerre suffered a 5-2 defeat to Lens on the opening day of the season.

Although Auxerre endured a difficult result, Sy’s personal milestone underlined his growing influence and attacking contribution from the right side.
