Abha Club signs Senegal defender Abdou Diallo

Senegal international defender Abdou Diallo has secured a new chapter in his career after agreeing to join Saudi Pro League side Abha Club following his departure from Qatari club Al-Arabi.

The experienced centre-back, who became a free agent after ending his spell in Qatar, has decided to continue his football journey in Saudi Arabia, where he will be looking to bring his leadership, defensive qualities and international experience to his new team.

Abha Club have reportedly completed the signing of the 30-year-old on a two-year contract, with the Senegalese defender set to remain with the Saudi club until at least 2028.

The move represents another major step in Diallo’s career, which has seen him compete at some of the highest levels of European football before moving to the Gulf region.

A versatile defender capable of operating both as a centre-back and left-back, Diallo has built a reputation as a composed and intelligent player with strong positional awareness. His ability to read the game, contribute in possession and provide defensive stability has made him a valuable asset throughout his career.

Before his move to the Middle East, Diallo enjoyed successful spells with several prominent European clubs. He began his professional career in France before gaining valuable experience in Germany, where he represented Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund.

His performances eventually earned him a high-profile transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, where he competed alongside some of the biggest names in world football and won domestic honours.

The Senegalese defender later continued his career in Germany with RB Leipzig before moving to Qatar to join Al-Arabi, where he became an important figure for the club.

On the international stage, Diallo has been a key member of the Senegal national team. His experience and defensive leadership played an important role in the success of the Teranga Lions, including their historic triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Now, after leaving Al-Arabi, Diallo has opted for a fresh challenge in Saudi Arabia, joining a league that has attracted several high-profile players from across the world in recent seasons.

Abha Club will be hoping his arrival can add greater stability and experience to their defensive department as they prepare for the upcoming Saudi Pro League campaign.

The club believes Diallo’s winning mentality, international pedigree and knowledge of top-level football will provide valuable qualities both on and off the pitch.

For Diallo, the move offers an opportunity to continue playing at a competitive level while taking on a new challenge in one of the fastest-growing football leagues in the world.

With nearly a decade of experience in European football and numerous international appearances for Senegal, the defender arrives at Abha Club as one of the most experienced players in the squad.

The Senegalese star will now begin preparations with his new teammates as he looks to make an immediate impact and help Abha Club achieve their ambitions in the Saudi Pro League.
