Senegal coach Souleymane Diallo has explained how his outfit managed to secure qualification over Liberia in the 2024 Championship for African Nations (CHAN) qualifiers.
The Taranga Lions edged out Liberia to book a spot at the CHAN tournament to be held in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Speaking to the media, Diallo asserted he began planning for the CHAN even before securing qualification.
“I planned ahead, even before the double-header against Liberia. I made a schedule leading up to February,” Diallo stated at a press conference.
Diallo stressed how crucial it is to get his youthful team ready for difficult African competitions. He pointed out that “many players are new, and nine out of 21 are juniors,” underscoring both the difficulties and the room for improvement.
The CHAN 2025 will be held from February 1 to 28 across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
As defending champions, Senegal will aim for a second consecutive title at this prestigious competition for domestic-based players.
