Senegal coach Pape Thiaw stands in solidarity with fans amid AFCON 2025 detention concerns

Pape Thiaw has delivered a heartfelt message of solidarity to Senegalese supporters who remain in detention following incidents during the Africa Cup of Nations Final 2025, expressing unwavering support from both himself and the entire nation.

The supporters were arrested on January 18, 2026, during the high-stakes final and were later sentenced to prison terms, a development that has sparked widespread concern across Senegal. “Ever since they’ve been there, I pray for them at every prayer,” Thiaw said. “We are with them wholeheartedly; we will never abandon them; we will fight to ensure they are reunited with their families.”
