Senegal Coach Mame Moussa Cissé Names 24-Player Squad for Women’s AFCON Qualifier Against Ivory Coast

Senegal coach Mame Moussa Cissé has named a 24-player squad for the crucial two-legged tie against Ivory Coast in the final qualifying round for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The list features a strong group of overseas-based players led by experienced forwards Mama Diop and Nguénar Ndiaye.

Cissé also included Khadija Badio of ZNK Radomlje in Slovenia, who earns her first senior call-up to the national team.

The local contingent is heavily represented by six players from Aigles de la Médina, Senegal’s dominant women’s club and four-time national champions.

The selected players from the club include Ndèye Awa Casset, Sadigatou Diallo, Meta Kandé, Anta Démbélé, Marie Diokh, and Khady Faye.

Cissé expressed confidence in his team’s balance of youth and experience, emphasizing the importance of unity and discipline ahead of the decisive fixtures.

He believes the squad’s preparation and cohesion will play a key role in their qualification hopes.

Senegal will host the first leg in Thiès on October 24, before travelling to Abidjan for the return match on October 28.

The winner of the tie will secure a place at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, set to feature the continent’s top women’s footballing nations.

The Ivorians have also announced their squad, promising an intense encounter between two sides familiar with each other’s style.

Both teams aim to earn a spot at the continental showpiece, where Senegal seeks to continue its progress after an impressive campaign in the previous edition.
