These discussions precede the formal opening of the congress on Wednesday by Gianni Merlo, President of the International Association of Sports Press World Section (AIPS-MONDE), alongside Senegalese and Congolese Ministers of Sports, among other dignitaries.
Over the course of 72 hours, the agenda includes discussions on the 2015 African Games, insights from former Caf Communications Director Souleyman Habuba on African football, and perspectives on sports marketing by Pape Massata Diack.
The congress will conclude on March 21st. Notably, this gathering, the first for African sports journalists under the leadership of Nigerian John Obi Mitchell, occurs less than a month before the International Sports Press Congress scheduled in Baku, Azerbaijan from April 27th to May 1st, 2014.
In Dakar, approximately thirty sports journalists from nearly 20 countries are in attendance.
