West Bromwich Albion defender Semi Ajayi is set to make his return to action after a lengthy injury spell, with manager Tony Mowbray confirming his involvement in an upcoming friendly with the club’s Under-21 side.
The 31-year-old has been sidelined since October after sustaining a hamstring injury during a league fixture against Cardiff City.
As part of his recovery, he will feature in a match against Newcastle United’s U-21 team on Monday night.
Mowbray revealed that he had spoken with Ajayi about playing “45 minutes” in the game and expressed his intention to watch him in action.
The manager emphasized the significance of senior players regaining match sharpness by playing alongside the youth squad.
Ajayi has made 12 league appearances for the Baggies this season and will be looking to regain full fitness ahead of a potential first-team return.
