Seko Fofana is set to return to action for Stade Rennais against Paris Saint-Germain after overcoming a minor injury sustained during the 4-0 triumph over Montpellier in Ligue 1.
The Ivorian midfielder, who scored his first goal for Rennes in the match, was forced off at half-time after experiencing discomfort in his thigh. However, fears of a serious setback were quickly allayed.
Positive Update
Head coach Habib Beye provided reassurance about Fofana’s condition, stating: “It looks like a contracture. Seko stopped at the right time to avoid any further risk.”
Beye, of Senegalese nationality, emphasised that the decision to substitute Fofana was precautionary, allowing the player to avoid aggravating the injury.
Swift Recovery
Fofana’s recovery comes as a boost for Rennes, who are preparing to host PSG at Roazhon Park.
The 28-year-old, who joined the club in January, has made nine appearances and netted his first goal in Sunday’s emphatic victory.
The midfielder’s presence will be key as Rennes look to build on their recent form and continue their climb in the Ligue 1 standings.
