Seko Fofana returns to Al-Ettifaq on loan from Al-Nassr
Seko Fofana, the Ivorian international midfielder, will spend the 2024-2025 Saudi Pro League season on loan at Al-Ettifaq, marking his return to the club. Fofana, who is under contract with Al-Nassr until June 2026, will not don the Blue and Yellow jersey this season, despite being part of a star-studded squad that includes Sadio Mané and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 29-year-old, who has earned 21 caps and scored seven goals for Ivory Coast, is no stranger to Al-Ettifaq, having spent the latter half of last season on loan with the Dammam-based club.
His initial stint at Al-Ettifaq was deemed a success, prompting the club’s management to secure his services for another year.
Announcing the move, Al-Ettifaq stated on social media, “The story continues… Ivorian international Seko Fofana joins the club once again on loan.”
During his previous spell at Al-Ettifaq, Fofana made 14 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.
His performance was instrumental in helping the team achieve a respectable 6th-place finish in the Saudi Pro League under the guidance of English football legend Steven Gerrard.
Al-Nassr, Fofana’s parent club, finished the season as runners-up, securing the title of national vice-champion.
Although Fofana also featured prominently for Al-Nassr, scoring two goals in 19 appearances, the decision to loan him out once more suggests that the club sees strategic value in allowing him to continue gaining match experience with Al-Ettifaq.
For Al-Ettifaq, Fofana’s return is seen as a valuable addition to their midfield, bringing both skill and experience.
The Ivorian’s ability to influence games, both defensively and offensively, will be key to the club’s ambitions in the upcoming season.
Fofana’s versatility and proven track record in the Saudi Pro League make him a significant asset as Al-Ettifaq looks to build on last season’s success and challenge for higher honors.
Fofana’s career trajectory has been marked by consistent performances, from his days at RC Lens in France to his ventures in the Saudi Pro League.
His move back to Al-Ettifaq highlights the club’s confidence in his abilities and their determination to build a competitive squad capable of making a strong impact in the league.
As the new season unfolds, Fofana will be expected to play a central role in Al-Ettifaq’s campaign, contributing to both their domestic league efforts and potentially in continental competitions.
The Ivorian midfielder’s return is a testament to the strong impression he made during his first loan spell, and both the player and the club will be eager to see how this renewed partnership unfolds.
