Sekhukhune United bolster squad with signings of Athenkosi Mcaba and Givemore Khuphe
Sekhukhune United FC have strengthened their squad ahead of the new South African Premiership season with the acquisition of former Stellenbosch FC defender Athenkosi Mcaba and midfielder Givemore Khuphe.
The Limpopo-based club confirmed the arrival of the two players as part of their ongoing efforts to improve the quality and depth of their squad ahead of another demanding campaign in South Africa’s top flight.
Mcaba’s signing comes after Sekhukhune United monitored the defender’s situation for several months following his departure from Stellenbosch FC at the end of the previous season. The club moved quickly to secure his services after identifying him as a player capable of adding strength and reliability to their defensive unit.
The former youth international brings valuable experience from his time with Stellenbosch, where he developed his reputation as a disciplined and composed defender. His defensive awareness, physical presence and ability to read the game made him an attractive option for Sekhukhune as they look to build a competitive squad.
Mcaba’s arrival is expected to provide additional options at the back, giving the technical team more flexibility when dealing with the challenges of domestic league competition and the club’s ambitions for the upcoming season.
Joining him at Babina Noko is midfielder Givemore Khuphe, who arrives to strengthen the team’s options in the middle of the park. The club believes his energy, creativity and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively will add value to the squad.
Sekhukhune United have made it clear that their recruitment strategy is focused on bringing in players who can immediately contribute while also fitting into the club’s long-term vision.
In welcoming the new additions, the club expressed excitement about the signings and urged supporters to give both players their full backing as they begin their new chapter.
“We warmly welcome Givemore and Athenkosi to the Babina Noko family,” the club stated.
The signings highlight Sekhukhune United’s determination to continue improving after establishing themselves as one of the competitive sides in the Betway Premiership. The club is expected to remain active in the transfer market as preparations continue for the new season.
With Mcaba adding defensive stability and Khuphe strengthening the midfield department, Sekhukhune will be hoping their latest recruits can play important roles as they chase success in the campaign ahead.
