Speaking on Canal+ International’s show Talents d’Afrique on Monday, Sébastien Migné discussed his unexpected departure from the Congo national team, just a year after taking charge.
“I signed my contract under Minister Alfred Opimbat. Then there was a cabinet reshuffle. I hadn’t anticipated it. And it became difficult for me to work with the new minister in place,” explained Migné, who is now the head coach of Kenya.
The French coach described the situation as frustrating, noting that his work with the players had potential and that interference from outside football hindered progress. “It was a shame because with the players, there was something to be done, a qualification to be achieved. I don’t like interference in sports politics. Everyone has their own job. But that was no longer the case and it had become complicated,” he added.
Since leaving Congo, Migné has successfully led Kenya’s Harambee Stars, guiding them to qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, demonstrating his resilience and ability to achieve results despite previous challenges.
