Sebastian Pedersen: Orlando Pirates move was a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity

New Orlando Pirates signing Sebastian Pedersen has revealed that he could not turn down the chance to join the reigning South African champions, describing the move as an opportunity that may only come once in a lifetime.

The Buccaneers confirmed the arrival of the 27-year-old Danish striker from Norwegian second-tier club Sogndal Fotball, with the forward signing a two-year contract.

Standing at 1.8 metres tall, Pedersen becomes the first Norwegian player to join Orlando Pirates and is expected to add more firepower to the club’s attacking options ahead of the new season.

The striker admitted that he was initially unsure about moving to South Africa but grew increasingly excited after learning more about the club and the country.

“This feels like a chance you perhaps only get once in a lifetime. It is such a big club that I simply could not pass up the opportunity when it came,” Pedersen told Sogndal’s official website.

“At first I was a little sceptical, but the more I have learned about the club and life in South Africa, the more excited I have become.”

Pedersen also expressed his appreciation to Sogndal for allowing him to complete the move, while reflecting fondly on his time with the Norwegian club.

“I have had an incredible time in Sogndal. From the very first second, I felt welcome and the town embraced me. It has been a fantastic place to be, both on and off the pitch,” he said.

“I leave with many great memories and I am grateful for my time here.”

The forward now turns his attention to making an impact at Orlando Pirates as the club looks to build on its recent success and compete on multiple fronts in the upcoming campaign.
